Leading up to the release of the movie Beauty & the Beast, there must have been a dozen articles that tried to convince Christians to boycott the Disney films release.
The hype prompted me to see this movie for myself. After all, why should I take someone else’s word on their perspective of such an infamous traditional fairy tale. I’m glad we made a night out of it. The movie was fantastic. Don’t worry, I am not going to spoil any of it for you.
The 3-D experience made it extra special. I’m not sure why so many Christians are easily offended these days.
God says, “a person’s wisdom yields patience; it is to one’s glory to overlook an offense.” Proverbs 19:11
Quite honestly, you had to want to be offended for this film to bother you enough to boycott it.
Think about it, the movie writers did not claim it is a Christian rendition of the film, right? There is a responsibility to bring the characters to life by giving them, well character. There should have been no false expectations, well, except by members who claim to be of the Christian church who condemned it. The request was reportedly due to homosexual and transgender innuendos. It is not as if this type of sexual twists on nature suddenly just appeared on the scene. They have existed since the beginning of our fallen nature. My kids didn’t get a transgender homosexual message from it either, I asked. How anyone could take such a strong opinion to publish a request to boycott the film has me stumped.
Go See the Movie, in 3-D. It’s really good.
